Baptisms

It’s always a joy and a privilege to welcome a new member into God’s family.  If we are your local Church or you have strong links with us through family, growing up in the area or perhaps marrying with us we would be more than happy to talk about baptising your child.   In the first instance, you should contact our vicar Revd Samantha via the website or the Parish number – 01803 607709.  We will then forward an application form for completion and then will meet with you to talk through the service.

It is a requirement in the Church of England for Godparents to be baptised and so you will need to think about this carefully when choosing potential Godparents.  Parents and Godparents will be invited to a Sunday morning service in the period leading up to the Baptism day so that the child may be introduced and welcomed to the Parish.  This also gives the clergy the opportunity to talk with everyone involved and answer any questions you may have over a cup of coffee.

The Church also offers the opportunity for a Thanksgiving Service for your child if you have difficulty in finding baptised people to stand as Godparents.  Your child would still be equally valued and welcome and we can talk you through this alternative service.

Whichever way you choose to join us, we very much hope that you will enjoy being at Church and worship regularly with us in the future.

There is no charge for Baptism.
